| Acupuncture Acupuncture produces analgesia (loss of pain sensation) by increasing the
release of opioids, a kind of pain-relieving endorphins which links to improved
memory and learning; feelings of pleasure or euphoria; control of body
temperature; regulation of hormones that affect the onset of puberty, sexual
drive and reproduction; and mental illness such as depression and schizophrenia.
Our acupuncturist has twenty years of clinical experience (five years in
Canada) in acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. The effectiveness of
her treatment and satisfaction from clients are well demonstrated by hundreds of
successful recoveries of our clients.
All the needles used are strictly sterile disposable.
Registered Massage Therapy
Massage is the practice of applying structured pressure, tension, motion, or
vibration to the soft tissues of the body, including muscles, connective tissue,
tendons, ligaments, joints and lymphatic vessels, to achieve a beneficial
response. As form of therapy, massage can be applied to parts of the body or
successively to the whole body, to aid the process of healing, relieve
psychological stress, manage pain, and improve circulation. Where massage is
used for its physical and psychological benefits, it has various forms of
modalities such as Swedish massage, Shiatsu, Acupressure, reflexology,
etc. Our therapists will combine those techniques in the treatment to achieve
the best therapeutic and relaxation effect.
Our Clinic provides relaxation/deep tissue/reflexology/shiatsu/stone massage.
Chinese Herbal Medicine
Chinese Medicine uses a very unique system
of prescribing herbs. The herbs are put together in "herbal formulas";
meaning that many different herbs (sometimes even more than 20) are combined
in specific quantities allowing them to work synergistically. The herbs are
used in very small quantities to eliminate any chance of side effects or
interactions with pharmaceutical medications or supplements. Also, depending
on the particular diagnosis of the patient, the herbs will be modified in
order to fit the individual exactly. One of the most important aspects of
Chinese Medicine is its attention to the overall condition of the patient
and the changes, subtle or otherwise, in his/her condition. The goal of
Traditional Chinese Medicine is the development of a clinical strategy that
is most appropriate to a particular patient at a particular moment. The
herbs in a 'formula' are modified to fit the evolving clinical needs of the
patient. These modifications usually occur weekly at the beginning of the
treatment regime.
Chinese Herbal Medicine comes in many different forms.
The most traditional is to make herbal decoctions where raw herbs are boiled
and simmered into a liquid. Other forms commonly used are tablets, capsules,
powders, pellets, and cream. The herbs provided by our clinic are in a
concentrated powder form and raw herbs. The powder is simply added to hot
water to make a tea. It is very easy and effective. However raw herbs
decoction has slightly better efficacy.

confidence and success.
Weight Loss
Inserting acupuncture needles superficially into various parts of the
body can facilitate weight loss by giving the person a feeling of well-being
which can suppress the desire for excess food. Acupuncture also can
stimulate metabolism and thereby enable the body to utilize food efficiently
instead of storing it as fat.
Gua Sha
An ancient Chinese therapy
allied to acupuncture, involves ‘scraping’(Gua) the skin to release various
kinds of pathogens (Sha). Extremely effective in treatment of pain associated with
an acute or chronic disorder. The
affected person may feel aching, tenderness
and/or a knotted feeling in the muscles. Gua sha is used to treat and prevent
acute conditions such as common cold or flu, asthma, bronchitis as well as
chronic problems involving pain and congestion of the qi and blood. Since gua
sha moves stuck qi and blood, the person receiving gua sha will probably feel
immediate changes in their condition.
Gua sha treatment can be used
up to three times weekly, and is most effective when used as a weekly treatment
on chronic conditions.
Cupping
Like Gua Sha, Cupping therapy is a treatment in which the practitioner
creates suction in a cup. And then applies that cup to the body, which then
draws the skin up around the cup, under the cup. It is usually used as part of
acupuncture or body work treatment.
Cupping brings fresh blood to the area. So it tends to improve circulation. It
also helps open up the chest and benefit the lungs and can even benefit
menstrual problems and digestive problems, too. Most commonly, it’s used for
aches and pains of various types as well as respiratory problems, cough,
wheezing, things like that.
Each cupping session last about 10 to 15 minutes and it can be repeated, once
the marks are cleared, until the problem is resolved. To get a treatment, he
says, seek a licensed acupuncturist.
